Hi folks!
If you follow me on LinkedIn, you probably saw that I mentioned in my recent post that I am back on a break for a few personal reasons. This time one of the things I want to focus on is 1:1 career coaching. Nothing fulfills me more than helping others grow in their careers. While it is fun to do this en masse through a newsletter, doing this in a personalized, curated way yields much better results to the coachee and increases my happiness as a coach!
If you are an engineering leader (eng manager or higher, staff+ IC or higher), I’d love to help you in your career journey! I still have a few spots open for career coaching for interested folks. Link towards the end of this article but some housekeeping first :)
3 reasons why NOT to sign up for my career coaching
Before you sign up, here are 3 reasons why you should NOT choose me as your career coach.
I greatly value commitment. This is a significant time investment for me and I fully commit to it. My coachees have seen the same accelerated career growth I have myself achieved. But I expect them to put in the same commitment I show. If you are not serious about growing your career and taking bold steps, please don’t sign up.
I believe in consistency. When I take on a coachee, I make time to meet them at a regular cadence. Biweekly or monthly, depending on our mutual agreement. I expect a similar time commitment from them for a reasonable length of time (3-6 months). Changing your career trajectory requires focused effort for a reasonable amount of time; it won’t happen overnight. If you are looking for a quick fix single session, please don’t sign up.
I am strongly in favor of showing candor. Never lie to your lawyer, doctor or coach. To truly help you I will need to know a lot more about your current performance, how you are perceived in your organization and more. We might need to discuss how your work-life tapestry looks like. If you don’t feel ready to talk about these with your coach, please don’t sign up.
